Creating a Soul Inspired Garden
Soul inspired gardens have been in our history long before religious
structures were made. It is believed that the early places of worship began in
sacred outdoor spaces that were special in their own rite.
Babylonian Gardens were fertile therefore said to be prosperous. Egyptian
Sanctuaries were not gardens in the modern sense but they are gardens in the
classical sense of a bounded outdoor space with earth and plants.
The Greek sanctuaries were placed for the gods to walk on the earth. There
are Jewish gardens, Christian gardens, Islamic, Buddhist and Hindu gardens
all sanctified spaces for the gods. So why then should the god in us be
treated any less? When did our world get so out of control that the garden
and barbecue go hand in hand?
History shows us that where we choose specific themes to uplift our life
through the landscaping and plantings around us miracles happen. When we
combine our senses with our goals we achieve life-altering gardens.
We will review five types of gardens each with their own special qualities
and attributes. By creating these beautiful gardens in whatever size suites
you, you are continuing on with the sacred tradition of reconnecting to your
beginnings. Not to mention creating a space for your god or goddess to walk
in.

Tips of the Trade
Tip #1: Love, and, let's face it, sex are as ancient as they are timeless. Egyptian
papyrus is an ornamental grass with ancient sex appeal. It prefers a continuously
moist soil and full sun. It does best in an area with a lot of humidity, but it will grow
in colder climates so long as it is well protected (brought indoors) for the winter. On
that same note, purple pampas grass could play the same role in your passionate
garden as the Egyptian papyrus
Tip #2 Plant an Alphabet Garden for your kids. You’ll need room for 26 plants.
Let your youngster choose from asters to zinnias, and make signs for each plant.
Tip #3 Shopping for your garden statue or pottery in the fall or 'off season' can bring
home the bargains and save you dollars. Not only will you save big dollars you’ll be
able to shop more relaxed finding that perfect something to put in your garden even in
the off-season!
Quote of the week:
The more one gardens, the more one learns; And the more one learns, the more one
realizes how little one knows.
